Sabres sign D Andre Benoit

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – The Buffalo Sabres added even more depth to the blue-line Wednesday, signing veteran Andre Benoit to a one-year contract.

Benoit, 30, is coming off a career season in Colorado, scoring 28 points in 79 games at the NHL level. He’s spent the majority of his pro career in the AHL, including a stop with Binghamton where current Sabres GM Tim Murray was in charge.

If some of the younger prospects aren’t ready for the NHL this season, Benoit could be a solid short-term solution. In 120 career games at the NHL level, Benoit has 10 goals and 29 assists. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
