Fire at East Amherst home causes $300K damage

EAST AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) – A fire that started in the rear bedroom of a home on Sable Court West in East Amherst left the house with $300,000 in damages.

Crews were called just after 2 p.m. after an alarm company reported the fire alarm had been activated. Once on scene, firefighters could see smoke coming from the second floor of a rear bedroom window.

The blaze was extinguished around 30 minutes later, but the fire caused heavy damage. Thankfully, no one was home and there were no injuries.

The cause remains under investigation, but fire investigators believe it is electrical in nature.
