One person injured on swing ride at Fantasy Island

GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. (WIVB) – One person was hurt Thursday afternoon when the swing ride at Martin’s Fantasy Island came to an abrupt halt.

A spokesman for the amusement park says around 2 p.m., the ride was on the way down at the end of its cycle when it stopped abruptly. One chair rammed into the back of a chair in front of it, injuring one person.

That person was taken to the hospital by ambulance, but there is no word on the extent of the person’s injuries.

The ride is currently being examined by technicians to determine if a mechanical issue caused the accident. Depending on the issue, the ride may return to service Thursday afternoon.
