Bar that fought Chip Strip co-mingling law shuts down

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – The records have stopped spinning for good at a nightclub in Buffalo’s premiere party district.

Lux on Chippewa has shut down. Everything inside will be auctioned off next Wednesday at 10 a.m.

The owners of Lux fought unsuccessfully to water down the city’s co-mingling law, which bans everyone under 21 from the ‘Chip Strip’ after 10 p.m., seven nights a week.

The operations manager of the building Lux was in says the closure of the bar allows for places like The Lodge to be built, increasing the number of restaurants in downtown Buffalo and improving the atmosphere on Chippewa.
