Citizens in Buffalo prepare for disasters

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Western New Yorkers who want to be prepared for the worst, had an event just for them Saturday.

The Citizen Preparedness Training Program was held in Buffalo. The program provides people with tools and resources to prepare for emergencies and disasters. Governor Andrew Cuomo, Senator Timothy Kennedy, Assembly Member Crystal Peoples-Stokes, Assembly Member Sean Ryan and Mayor Byron Brown were all part of helping put on the event.

Each family that attended received a N.Y.S. Disaster Preparedness Kit that contains key items to assist individuals in the immediate aftermath of a disaster. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
