Man in serious condition after falling asleep while driving

TOWN OF PAVILION, N.Y. (WIVB)- A man from LeRoy is in serious condition following a single vehicle accident Saturday morning.

According to a Genesee County Sheriff’s deputy, Steven Lantz, 47, fell asleep while driving his pick up truck on South Street road. He drove across the oncoming lane, and struck a utility pole.

It took Pavilion and Leroy fire departments around 45 minutes to extricate him from the vehicle.

Lantz, the sole occupant of the pick-up truck, was transported to Strong Hospital by Mercy Flight. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
