Lewiston PD looking for community’s help in naming new K9

LEWISTON, N.Y. (WIVB)-  The Lewiston Police Department has announced they have acquired a new K9 partner for Officer Strafford.

Officer Stafford’s K9 partner Radar passed away in May after being diagnosed with spleen cancer. Radar was the first K9 in the history of Lewiston Police.

The department’s new K9 is an 18 month old male German Shepherd with German and Slovak heritage. Officer Stafford has begun the training process which is expected to take 3-4 months.

Those interested can follow this link to send in your response electronically. There will also be paper ballots at the Lewiston Town Hall, Sanborn Library and Lewiston Library. Suggestions are due by August 29 and the name will be picked shortly thereafter.
