Attorney seeks end to hearings against school board member

HAMBURG, N.Y. (WIVB) – The Erie County DA’s Office is deeply involved in an investigation into the Hamburg superintendent.

Dr. Richard Jetter is accused of filing a false police report. He allegedly lied about vandalism to his car, when he had actually been in a car accident. Sources say Jetter had the school reimburse him for his car insurance deductible, and that could potentially lead to more charges.

Margaret Murphy, the attorney for school board member Catherine Forcucci, is asking for removal hearings against her client to be stopped while the board searches for a new superintendent. Forcucci is accused of behaving in a confrontational manner with several staff members, including Jetter.

In a letter to the school board attorney, Murphy said the hearings are “adversarial and will do nothing to unite an already splintered school board.”

The attempt to remove Forcucci could cost the district hundreds of thousands of dollars. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
