Code violations shut Niagara County sports complex

NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB) – Officials have shut down Sportsplex in North Tonawanda because of code violations.

The city says electrical issues, a leaking roof and a problem with a pump are causing safety concerns. Until the problems are fixed, the city has forced Sportsplex to close.

General Manager Barbara Morse tells News 4 she’s working with contractors to make the needed repairs.

“We have the materials on the roof ready to go. We have been shut down for violations. And they’re code violations. So we’re working with the city at this point right now in order to get these problems fixed,” Morse said.

She hopes to have all the problems fixed and re-open Sportsplex in September. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
