A dozen cars broken into in Genesee County

BATAVIA, N.Y. (WIVB) – Authorities in Genesee County are investigating a string of car break-ins.

They haven’t said exactly where the crimes happened, but we do know thieves hit about a dozen cars, some of which were in the parking lot of a local sports park.

State troopers tracked a stolen cell phone to a hotel in Clarence, but all they found were empty purses stuffed into the garbage.

Seth Kent of Byron said, “We had some people run up to us and explain that several cars has been broken into, obviously mine was one of them, and several purses were stolen and obviously cars were vandalized.”

Kent says he was only away from his car for about an hour when the thefts took place around 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
