Walk raises awareness about benefits of breast feeding

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) – A walk was held Thursday to raise awareness about breast feeding.

The free event was held in Hyde Park for families looking to learn more about the benefits of breast feeding,. The Catholic Charities WIC program helped put on the event.

One of the coordinators says, it’s all about creating a healthier community.

Katie Constantino said, “To promote healthier families here in the Niagara County area, we have information for moms during their pregnancy, for moms after they deliver, about healthy eating, and parenting programs.”

Experts say breast feeding can help protect infants against many illnesses, including ear infections, stomach viruses, asthma, and obesity.
