Erie County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested for contraband


BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Two Erie County Sheriff Deputies have been arrested for smuggling contraband into county jails. Erie County Sheriff Timothy Howard said the arrests come after a month-long investigation following a confidential tip.

Charles Hunt, 49, was arrested at the Erie County Holding Center Saturday. He’s charged with possessing dangerous contraband in prison in the 1st degree, as well as a misdemeanor for criminal possession of marijuana.

Eric Stevens,33, was arrested as he exited the Erie County Correctional Facility Saturday. He is charged with a felony for introducing contraband into a prison.

As of Sunday night, Charles Hunt was still behind bars in the Erie County Jail. Eric Stevens was released on court order.
