Hit-and-run accident leaves man in critical condition, driver sought


BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A 40-year-old Niagara Falls man is in critical condition at ECMC after a hit-and-run accident late Sunday night.

The man suffered multiple injuries after being hit by a vehicle that may have been traveling at a high rate of speed while he crossed Bailey Avenue near Roosevelt just after 12:30 a.m. on Sunday.

According to Lt. Thomas J. Leatherbarrow, Commander of the Buffalo Police Accident Investigation Unit, the vehicle is described as maroon in color with yellow NYS plates. Lt. Leatherbarrow said the car should have front end damage to the driver’s side.

A City of Buffalo surveillance camera shows the vehicle just before the accident. Anyone with information is asked to call or text the Confidential TIPCALL Line at 847-2255.
