District hopes to wrap up hearings on board member

HAMBURG, N.Y. (WIVB) Hearings resume in Hamburg on Monday to determine the future of School Board Member Catherine Forcucci, who is charged with official misconduct.

Some members want her Forcucci off the board and are pushing for the hearings to continue. For the first time, the Hamburg School Board is moving forward with the hearings without Superintendent Dr. Richard Jetter, who is currently on leave after police say he admitted lying about vandalism to his car. The district attorney has said the board wants Jetter to resign, immediately.

The hearings against Forcucci have gone on for weeks, as witnesses have come forward to testify about Forcucci’s alleged behavior. Some have called her confrontational and others, like the superintendent, have said they hate her actions. Jetter described Forcucci as approaching him, using a voice similar to that of Jack Nicholson from “The Shining.”

The Hamburg School District is hoping to wrap up their case Monday night, which would then allow Forcucci to testify on her own behalf. She says it’s something she’s looking forward to.

News 4 spoke with her exclusively, late last month.

Forcucci said, “This hearing is just a point, a method, I think, to shush me up, get me off the board. I believe they thought they were playing a game of chicken with me and it’s not working.”

Jetter was supposed to be in Village of Hamburg Court this week, answering to charges that he filed a false police report about damage to his car. We’ve since learned he’ll be arraigned at the end of the month.
