Mollys Pub victim to be memorialized at wake

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Family and friends will remember Air National Guard Tech Sgt. Bill Sager on Monday.

Sager suffered a severe brain injury after being pushed down a flight of stairs at Mollys Pub on Main Street in Buffalo, last May. He remained in a coma and succumbed to his injuries last Thursday.

A wake for Sager will be held Monday from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Kaczor Funeral Home in Hamburg. A private service to honor his life will take place Tuesday at the funeral home.

On Sunday, friends and family held a benefit in his honor. The benefit was planned before Sager died as a way to remember a man they call “the ultimate friend.”

Some of Sager’s fellow Air Guardsman made a pact they would always take care of each other’s families and wanted to push forward with the benefit as a way to help the family by allowing them to focus on grieving while raising money to pay for medical bills.

This was supposed to be a special summer for Sager. He was planning to marry his fiance, Erika Webster.
