Bomb squad called to Amherst over suspicious package

AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) – The Erie County Sheriff’s Bomb Squad was called to an address in Amherst Thursday night.

Amherst Police say a citizen found a suspicious package in the roadway near Sweethome and I-990 while driving. He took the package to his home on Sunshine Drive and called police after he became suspicious about its contents.

The bomb squad came to remove the package for further examination as a precaution.
