Hospital workers hold informational picket

DUNKIRK, N.Y. (WIVB) – Union workers are fighting for a new contract at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk.

Members of 1199 SEIU held an informational picket outside the hospital on Thursday. They have been in contract negotiations with the administration since March.

Union vice president Jim Scordato said, “Freezing in wages, wage steps, cutting back on days off. I mean, some people looking to receive 18 days back in benefit time. Freezing the pension, change in job language, on job shifting in the hospital.”

A federal mediator has stepped in to help, but so far a deal has not been reached.
