Tropical getaways to get easier from Buffalo

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Planning your tropical getaway will soon get a little easier.

An NFTA source tells News 4 Sunwing Airlines, a Canadian carrier, will soon start offering non-stop flights from Buffalo to popular vacation destinations in Mexico and the Dominican Republic. The Buffalo News first reported the new service on Thursday. An official announcement from the airline and NFTA will come Tuesday.

The once-a-week, seasonal flights will start next year. They will be first flights from Buffalo to a foreign destination in more than a decade.

The Buffalo Niagara International Airport made headlines last week, when officials reminded travelers to leave prohibited items at home.
