Runners tackle inflatable obstaces for charity in unique 5K

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Running a 5k is enough of a challenge for many.  But Saturday, some western New Yorkers participated in a different kind of 5k which included giant inflatable obstacles such as slides, tunnels and slopes that had to be climbed.

The Insane Inflatable 5k is meant to bring a new sort of challenge to both experienced runners and those looking to just have some fun. News 4 spoke to Rebecca Sultz who ran the race to honor her grandparents, she said. “It was an interesting race. It’s something I’ve never done before. The terrain was rough but the obstacles were really fun. It was a good time.”

The event, which took place at Knox Farm State Park, will also give back to the community, designating a portion of the proceeds from the race to Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
