Crane to be removed at Conventus site

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Progress on Buffalo’s medical campus may force you to map out a new route to work throughout the week. Main Street is closed from High Street to North Street.

Construction workers are going to bring in one crane to take down another crane at the new Conventus building. This will mark another milestone for this project.

Once this building is finished next year, it will serve as the ‘northern gateway’ to the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus.

The giant tower crane has been a fixture of the Buffalo skyline since June, 2013. All of the cranes around the city have been a towering sign of progress and growth.

When the Conventus project is finished, there will be seven floors, more than 350,000-square feet of clinical office and retail space. The tenants will include Kaleida Health, UB Medical School, research space, and a First Niagara bank branch.

The crane removal crew is expected to be finished by Friday. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
