Cuomo, state leaders to travel to Israel

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Governor Andrew Cuomo will leave for the Middle East on Tuesday.

Cuomo is leading a group of state lawmakers and prominent New Yorkers on a trip to Israel. They say the goal of the trip is to show unity with Israel and to meet with leaders there about the crisis in Gaza.

New York State is home to the largest population of Jewish people outside Israel.

Governor Cuomo said, “This state and this country play a special role as supporters of Israel. This is an incredibly difficult time for Israel and standing in support, I think, is important.”

The group will return on Thursday. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
