CHAUTAUQUA, N.Y. (WIVB) – Five teen-aged hikers had to be rescued after getting lost in the Chautauqua Gorge late Tuesday night.

Multiple agencies responded around 9 p.m. to the gorge off Canada Road in the Town of Chautauqua to help locate the hikers, including one who got separated from the group.

The individual hiker was found around 3:30 a.m. and safely brought out of the gorge. However, the remaining four hikers were stuck on a ledge around 30 feet above the bottom of the gorge.

Due to hazardous conditions and limited visibility, the hikers had to wait until 8:15 a.m. to be rescued.
