Alleged drunk driver was traveling 78 mph in 40 mph zone

CLARENCE, N.Y. (WIVB) – A Buffalo man is accused of going 78 mph in a 40 mph zone while driving drunk.

State Police say just after midnight on Thursday, 54-year-old Ronald Reickerd passed troopers going 78 mph down Main Street in the Town of Clarence. While catching up to Reickerd’s car, police say they witnessed him blow past a vehicle stopped at the intersection with Harris Hill just as the light turned green.

After being stopped, police say Reickerd failed field sobriety tests and had a BAC of .10 percent.

He was arrested for DWI and issued several traffic tickets. He’s due back in court at a later date.
