Person destroys fallen soldier’s memorial bench

LOCKPORT, N.Y. (WIVB) – Police in Lockport are looking for the person who destroyed a memorial bench dedicated to a man who died serving our country.

Army Specialist Albert Jex, a Lockport resident, was killed in February 2009 by an I.E.D. during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was 23-years-old.

A bench was dedicated in his memory on Locust Street near the intersection of Walnut Street.

Sometime during the early morning hours this past Saturday, a person destroyed the bench.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 433-7700 or leave a confidential tip by calling 439-6707.
