Attic fire spreads to neighboring home

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Firefighters were busy battling a blaze early Saturday morning on the corner of Orlando Street, between Quinn and Seneca Streets, in South Buffalo.

The fire started in the attic of a vacant home around 2 a.m. and caused the roof to collapse. It spread to the home next door.

Firefighters tried to control the flames from inside the home but were quickly pulled out because the condition of the structure was deteriorating.

The fire chief said the early damage estimates are around $50,000 for the vacant home and $5,000 to the home next door.

He also said investigators are planning on demolishing the house immediately.

The cause of this fire is still under investigation. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
