Driver charged with DWI after hitting horse and buggy

CLYMER, N.Y. (WIVB) – Authorities responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a horse and buggy Friday night. The horse and buggy was carrying two adults and four children as it was traveling west on Rt. 474 near Wickwire Road.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s office says Ann Beebe hit the horse and buggy with her vehicle.

A female one of her children in the buggy were treated at the scene and and taken to UPMC Hamot in Erie, PA for further treatment. The adult male and other three children did not need hospital care.

The Sheriff’s investigation found Beebe, 67, to be driving while intoxicated. She was taken into custody and charged with driving while intoxicated, speed not reasonable, failing to use due care while approaching a horse, and imprudent speed approaching a horse.

Authorities are continuing to investigate with additional charges pending.
