Ground broken on skate park that honors teen

LANCASTER, N.Y. (WIVB) – Crews have begun to build a new skate park in Lancaster in honor of a teen killed by a drunk driver in May 2012.

Fourteen-year-old Bryce Buccholz was riding his bike when he was struck and killed. A group who worked to build this memorial says it is the best way they could honor their friend.

David Watz said, “It started out as family and friends, and [has] just grown. Our end-purpose was to create a park in his name, which you know after two years of fundraising, [with] the help of the town and the people of Lancaster and support of the communities, we’ve been able to build the skate park in his honor.”

The group expects the new place to ride and skate at Keysa Park to be completed sometime in September.
