Historic Buffalo bar celebrates grand reopening

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A historic Buffalo tavern celebrated its grand reopening Monday.

Ulrich’s Tavern on Ellicott Street was recently renovated and restored. The tavern had a soft opening earlier this summer, and the grand opening celebration began at 3 p.m. Monday.

The tavern opened in 1868, making it the oldest bar in Buffalo. It’s known for its German flair.

Virginia Street was blocked off from Washington to Ellicott Street with outdoor tents and German music by the Frankfurters. Complimentary hors d’oeuvres and authentic German food and beer were be served.

The developer and restaurant owner sat down with Winging It! Buffalo Style’s Matt Snyder last month to talk about the reopening.
