Bills amp up the practice pace

PITTSFORD, N.Y. (WIVB) - With the next-to-last preseason game on tap this weekend, the Bills entered more of a regular-season mode during training camp practice.

Tuesday’s session featured more reps for the starters, who will likely see the field quite a bit during Saturday’s “dress rehearsal” against Tampa Bay.

“I would say today was an in season Wednesday practice for us,” said quarterback EJ Manuel. “It went great going against a “scout team”. We did a great job.  I don’t think we had the ball on the ground at all throughout the team period and the 7-on-7’s.”

The Bills are also shuffling the offensive line a bit this week, with left tackle Cordy Glenn back on the field for team drills. Seantrel Henderson, who had been filling in for Glenn, shifted to right tackle, with right tackle Erik Pears moving to guard.

“What I don’t want to do is have my fifth best lineman be a backup because one guy doesn’t play a position,” said head coach Doug Marrone. “I want to make sure we can get the best five players out there. These moves probably would’ve happened sooner had Cordy wasn’t injured.”

Wide receiver Sammy Watkins, who left the last preseason game early with a rib injury, was back in full pads today, but did not fully participate in practice.
