Buffalo School Board to discuss teacher layoffs, funding

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – The Buffalo Board of Education is expected to take on several key issues at it’s meeting Wednesday.

With school just two weeks away, the board still has to figure out several things. For one, how to handle the recent layoffs of 63 teachers. They are trying to determine how to get $36 million in federal aid the state education department is keeping from the district.

Also, they need to figure out the future of the Johns Hopkins recovery plan at Lafayette and East high schools. Just more than a year into its contract with the district, Johns Hopkins wants to pull out.
