Employees to volunteer for Day of Caring

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Thousands of volunteers are getting ready to roll up their sleeves, and work to make Erie County a better place for the annual United Way Day of Caring.

Volunteers are going to get to work around 8 a.m. Wednesday, to kick off the day of service. More than 3,500 volunteers from 145 different organizations will be all over Erie County helping out non-profit organizations by doing things like planting, painting, cleaning and serving lunch.

The United Way Day of Caring helps almost 130 non-profits with major projects that would usually come at a big cost.

Patricia Rushbridge volunteered at South Park in the past. She said, “It’s a great way to spend the day. We get out of the office and give back to the community.”

Volunteers will participate in a breakfast rally at the First Niagara Center and then head out to their projects sites for the day.
