Hamburg appoints new acting superintendent

HAMBURG, N.Y. (WIVB) – The Hamburg School District has a new acting superintendent.

The school board selected Vincent Coppola at a special meeting Thursday night to serve through the end of January.

Current superintendent Dr. Richard Jetter is on leave. Members of the board are looking for Jetter to resign after he was charged with filing a false police report about damage to his car.

Police say Jetter admitted that he had been in an accident and lied about the crash, claiming it was vandalism. He now faces charges of filing a false police report and is also being investigated by the Erie County District Attorney’s Office.
