Buffalo man admits defrauding First Niagara Bank

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A Buffalo man now admits he defrauded First Niagara Bank.

Tarrek Williams, 27, pleaded guilty Friday to bank fraud. For nearly two years, between September 2011 and July 2013, Williams deposited fraudulent checks and then withdrew the money before the bank would realize there was insufficient funds to cover the checks.

The loss to First Niagara Bank was more than $14,000.

Williams will be sentenced in December and could face a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison and a fine of $1,000,000.
