Miller wants to be first woman to head Seneca Nation

SALAMANCA, N.Y. (WIVB) – Darlene Miller, a member of the Seneca Nation Council, wants to be the first woman to head up the Seneca Nation of Indians.

Miller is a former action CEO of Seneca Nation Health Systems and is running for the Seneca presidency on a platform of promoting healthy minds and bodies and quality education for all Senecas.

As a lifelong resident of the Allegany Territory, Miller feels she is putting people before politics.

The Seneca Nation elects a president every two years and the president’s office rotates between the Cattaraugus and Allegany territories.

The Seneca Nation is one of the region’s largest employers, running three casinos in Western New York. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
