SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) – New vending machines featuring New York’s homegrown products have been introduced at the State Fair and will soon be added at state-run highway rest areas across the state.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo says proceeds from the machines at the fair will benefit the Food Bank of Central New York.
The State Department of Agriculture and Markets coordinated with the New York State Automatic Vending Association on the initiative at the fair.
The New York State Commission for the Blind will implement the rollout of the rest of the machines in cooperation with the Department of Transportation shortly after the fair.
Products include Finger Lakes Fresh sliced apples, Heluva Good Cheese, Chobani yogurt, Barkeater Chocolates, and Stone Cold Creamery Shakes. The selections will change to feature more New York products.
