Cops greet customers from roof of Dunkin’ Donuts

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – If you stopped at Dunkin’ Donuts this morning, you may have seen an odd sight – a cop on the roof!

Local police officers greeted customers at Dunkin’ Donut shops around Western New York as part of the “Cops on Top” fundraiser, which collects money for the Special Olympics.

Mike Crisona of the Special Olympics of New York said, “Special Olympics really gives these individuals a place in our community. Athletes that compete in Special Olympics they not only get out of it what they get from the sports end, they’re more likely to gain employment. And just live very and complete full lives. A great initiative throughout the whole community.”

Everyone who made a donation on Tuesday received a coupon for a free coffee.

All the money raised helps athletes in the Special Olympics compete throughout the year. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
