BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A city employee who stole around $9,000 from parking meters will spend six months in jail and has to return every quarter he took.

Francis Tronolone worked various positions in the City of Buffalo’s Department of Parking Enforcement over the past 10 years, including parking meter collector and parking meter mechanic. During that time, the 33-year-old stole around $9,000 in quarters, stashing them in a small cooler in the back of his vehicle.

For the thefts, Tronolone will spend six months in prison and will have to pay $9,000 in restitution.

He was caught in 2011 along with James Bagarozzo, Lawrence Charles, and Franklin Lopez.

Bagarozzo stole more than $200,000 from parking meters and was sentenced in August 2013 to 30 months in prison. He was also ordered to pay $210,000 in restitution.

Charles took more than $10,000 in quarters and was ordered to pay $15,000 in restitution and serve six months in jail.

Lopez pleaded guilty to stealing thousands of dollars and will be sentenced in October.
