23 cats removed from two homes in Niagara County

NEWFANE, N.Y. (WIVB) – The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office and Niagara County SPCA worked together Wednesday to remove 23 cats from two homes.

Deputies receive a call about a possible animal abuse complaint and arrived at a home on Applewood Lane in the Town of Newfane. By that time, the animals had been removed from the trailer, but it was in deplorable condition. The Newfane building inspector condemned the building.

Patrols then responded to a home on Prospect Street in Lockport, where 13 cats were removed. After that, they went to a home on Drake Settlement Road in Newfane, where 10 cats were removed.

At an address on West Avenue in Newfane, two dogs were found, but not removed.

There is no word on whether any arrests have been made, but deputies say the Niagara County SPCA continues to investigate.
