Three-car accident snarls rush hour traffic

AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) – A three-car accident tied up traffic on Millersport Highway in Amherst and sent a 26-year-old woman to the hospital with serious injuries.

Police say around 5:15 p.m. Rachel Cook of Amherst slowed down to turn left into a driveway. Her vehicle was struck from behind by an SUV, which pushed Cook’s vehicle into the southbound lane, where it was hit a second time by a van.

Cook was taken to ECMC with hip and back injuries. The driver of the SUV, 38-year-old John Wright of Lockport, was taken to Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital with a shoulder injury. The driver of the van, 54-year-old Timothy Mulvey of Lockport, was taken to Lockport Memorial Hospital with rib injuries.
