New York cuts back road work on Labor Day weekend

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) – New York state is suspending non-emergency road work over the busy Labor Day weekend.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo says he directed state agencies to pull back on road construction until 6 a.m. Tuesday. The directive covers the Metropolitan Transportation Authority and the Thruway Authority.

The Governor also asked the bi-state Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to review its construction schedule to minimize the impact on drivers.
