ORCHARD PARK, NY (WIVB)– The Bills have had instability at the quarterback position throughout head coach Doug Marrone’s tenure thus far with the team. Marrone made it clear after Thursday night’s abysmal 23-0 loss to the Detroit Lions that he was not satisfied with the quarterbacks on the roster, which at the time included EJ Manuel, Jeff Tuel and Jordan Palmer. Palmer was released on Friday. According to ESPN’s James Walker the Bills inked veteran Kyle Orton to a one-year contract.
Orton is expected to serve as Manuel’s backup. He most recently played in Dallas where he was cut in July. Orton has spent time with Dallas, Denver, Kansas City and Chicago. He has started 70 NFL games and has throws for 15,019 yards and 59 touchdowns, providing the Bills with experience at the quarterback position.
