Man shot twice while walking behind housing units

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. (WIVB) – Investigators have recovered a pistol near the scene of a shooting in Jamestown where a man was struck twice by gunfire.

Around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, four shots rang out at the rear of Appleyard Terrace in the 600 block of East 2nd Street. A man was struck twice as he walked in an open area behind the housing units.

The victim was taken to Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pa. where he is undergoing surgery.

Police say they recovered a pistol near the scene. The suspect is described as a black man in his early 20s.
