BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A new study shows more people are joining unions in New York State.

One in four workers say they belong to a labor union, according to the research from the City University of New York Graduate Center. Last year the number was one in five.

The students say the increase is because more people are joining the construction and hotel industries.

New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman was in Buffalo on Labor Day to discuss his work to protect laborers. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
