Man deported in 2008 caught trying to get into U.S.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A man deported from the U.S. in 2008 was caught Monday trying to cross the International Railroad Bridge.

U.S. Border Patrol took the citizen of Haiti into custody around 2 a.m. on Labor Day as he tried to cross the bridge from Canada. Sensors and camera systems detected the man on the bridge, and the Integrated Border Communications Center sent agents to stop him before he could enter the City of Buffalo.

The man was deported in 2008. Previously, he had been living in Florida, where he was convicted of aggravated battery, disorderly conduct, breach of the peace and resisting an officer.

The man will face federal criminal charges for illegal re-entry into the United States.
