Marrone taking “wait and see” approach with Watkins

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) - Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins practiced Wednesday and says he is ready to play Sunday against Chicago, but head coach Doug Marrone is not ready to make that statement just yet.

“I think we’re just going to wait and see for the game. It’s hard to judge right now,” said Marrone.

Watkins, who injured his ribs for the second time in the preseason last week against Detroit, admits he still feels the pain.

“It’s when you get hit. When I’m out there running around, I don’t feel it,” said Watkins. “I’m out there basically just practicing and getting my job done. Thinking about it, I got hit the other day and it felt pretty funny but now I know what it takes and how it feels.”

The Bills visit Chicago Sunday for the season opener at 1pm.
