Bishop to celebrate mass for legal community

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – The annual Red Mass, for those involved in the legal and judicial systems, will be held on October 1 at St. Joseph Cathedral.

Most Reverend Bishop Richard Malone will be the main celebrant for the 12:05 p.m. Mass at at 50 Franklin Street in Buffalo. Area judges, lawyers and public officials of all faiths, their staffs and all members of the community are encouraged to attend.

Chief U.S. District Judge for Western New York, Honorable William M. Skretny, will offer remarks at the close of Mass.

The Red Mass is a tradition in Western New York and is sponsored by the St. Thomas More Guild, an organization for Catholic lawyers in the Diocese of Buffalo. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
