WELLSVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB) – CNN aired a documentary Thursday night about a transgender Navy SEAL from Wellsville and his transition from man to woman.
Chris Beck served on the elite Navy team for more than 20-years and traveled to Iraq, Afghanistan and Africa. After retiring in 2011, he came out as transgender and is now known as Kristin.
“Gray World” features Kristin’s story about being trapped in the wrong body and not being able to make that right while serving America.
“We’re Americans, and we are part of our country. It’s another mission because there’s a lot of freedom I’m defending by doing this. And in some ways this is way more mentally and physically rigorous than many things I’ve done in my past,” she said.
Beck earned a Bronze Star and Purple Heart in the Navy.
