Suicide prevention walk to raise awareness, money

OLEAN, N.Y. (WIVB) – Community members and businesses are coming together in Olean for the “Out of the Darkness” walk on Saturday.

The suicide prevention and awareness event, hosted by the Cattaraugus County Suicide Prevention Coalition, has at least doubled in size from last year, with more than 140 participants already registered.

The fundraiser will begin at Good Times of Olean, with registration at 4 p.m., the walk around Forness Park pond at 5 p.m., and an after party at 6:30 p.m. Walkers are invited to wear all different colors and bring photos of friends and family. There will be a luminary station after the walk to remember loved ones.

You can register online at www.afsp.org until Friday. In-person registration will open that afternoon.
