Church invites parish to be part of history

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A tradition that began more than 100 years ago continued Sunday at Corpus Christi Church.

When the church was officially dedicated in 1909, the founders of the parish placed notes in the original cupola. To continue the tradition, the church invited parishioners to write letter that will be placed inside of a cross on its rebuilt north cupola.

Interested participants wrote letters after the 8:15 a.m., 10 a.m. and 11:30 Masses at the church. The letters will be placed in the cross, which will be placed on the cupola before the end of the 2014 construction season.

Corpus Christi Church previously held a letter writing event in 2011, when it placed a cross on its new south tower cupola.
