AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) — Apple is holding a media event on Tuesday in which many tech experts believe they will announce the “iPhone 6”. Rumors suggest it will come in two different sizes, both larger than current iPhone models, and may have a shatter-proof screen. Some believe Apple will also use this event to announce their first entry into the so-called “smartwatch” product category.
No matter what new product Apple reveals Tuesday, or what new features it announces, some die-hard Apple fans are already lining up to buy the new products.
Matt McCall of the Best Buy Geek Squad in Amherst said, “People don’t even know what it is and they already want to buy it.”
Unless you want to be among the very first to get the phone, waiting in line for days isn’t necessary.
Brett Schwartzkopf of Tonawanda said, “You wait in line for hours and hours hoping to get the next big thing when you can always get it the following day or a few days after.”
Many retailers will let you trade in an old iPhone for another one, even if it isn’t the newest model.
McCall said, “Even if you don’t want the latest and greatest what you’ll have is another opportunity to get last year’s phone at a cheaper price and you might not have the most current iPhone 6 or whatever it’s called you may have something older but it’s still new for you.”
McCall has an important tip for anyone looking at a new phone; before trading in your old phone, make sure you’ve saved everything on it you need then erase it completely before handing it over.
Apple’s media event is scheduled to take place Tuesday at 1 p.m. EST from Cupertino, California, the home of their headquarters.
